ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Jacob van der Beugel produces refined and minimalist wheel-thrown ceramics. The forms are elegantly poised and tactile in nature. He commonly uses an earthy black stoneware clay, which contains sand that produces a highly unique speckled finish. Jacob van der Beugel's pottery comprises of one-off installation pieces, which are inspired by Dutch 17th century Still Life Paintings. Themes such as Memento Mori and Vanitas are translated into a dynamic ceramic language and format. He also creates larger functional pieces. Crushed local stones and pulverised kiln shelving are applied to the surface of the pieces to produce a unique textural ceramic style. His tableware range comprises of unique teapots and coffeepots to cups, plates and beautiful lidded pots. Jacob van der Beugel also works to commission.
